Sustainability
Our commitment to nature and responsible production.
-
At HGSS Silk, sustainability means honoring the natural cycle that silk comes from. Silk is one of the few fibers that can be regenerated naturally when produced responsibly. Mulberry trees absorb CO₂, support biodiversity, and require minimal pesticides—while mulberry leaves, silkworm growth, and careful spinning form an ecological system that must be protected, not industrialized at the expense of the environment.
We recognize our responsibility as a manufacturer to preserve this cycle. For us, sustainability safeguards healthy soil and ecosystems, supports stable livelihoods for farming communities, and ensures that every silk fiber carries integrity, transparency, and long-term value. It is a foundational principle—not a temporary trend.
-
Our Sustainability Practice is Built on Four Pillars:
Green Farming: We operate our own mulberry farms and follow natural cultivation methods, minimizing chemical use while protecting soil health and biodiversity, carefully nurturing silkworms to produce healthy, premium-quality silk.
Controlled and Transparent Production: From cocoon to finished yarn, every step is fully traceable and adheres to strict environmental standards.
Responsible Resource Use: We employ automated production systems to improve efficiency and reduce pollution. At the same time, we continuously optimize energy and water consumption across all processes.
Silk Waste Re-Use and Circularity: We collaborate with research partners to repurpose silk waste into new materials, promoting circular innovation in textile production.
-
Operating our own mulberry farms and nurturing our own silkworms is at the heart of HGSS Silk’s sustainability philosophy.
Supporting sustainability: By managing the farms ourselves, we protect the environment and maintain healthy ecosystems, while also providing stable livelihoods for local communities.
Ensuring product quality: Controlling the entire process from the very beginning allows us to guarantee premium silk, with full traceability and consistency from cocoon to finished yarn.
This approach ensures that every step aligns with our commitment to responsible, sustainable silk production.
Products
From raw fibers to yarns.
-
At HGSS Silk, we offer a full range of premium-grade mulberry silk yarns, engineered to meet international textile industry standards.
Our main collections include:
Spun silk yarns — available in both long spun and short spun types:
Long spun silk yarns are made from longer silk sliver, offering a smooth, even texture ideal for fine apparel and luxury fabrics.
Short spun silk yarns are crafted from shorter combed silk fibers, creating a soft, matte appearance suitable for scarves, knitwear, and home textiles.
Blended yarns — exclusively silk-cashmere, combining premium mulberry silk with fine cashmere to achieve a unique balance of softness, warmth, and elegance, perfect for high-end fashion and luxury knitwear.
-
At HGSS Silk, quality starts at the source. By managing our own mulberry farms and raising our own silkworms, we ensure that the raw silk meets our exacting standards from the very beginning.
From there, our in-house fiber processing and yarn production facilities allow us to maintain full control over every stage of manufacturing. This integrated approach not only guarantees consistency and superior quality but also enables us to continuously refine and optimize our processes, delivering silk yarn that performs reliably and beautifully.

-
Mulberry silk comes from domesticated silkworms that feed exclusively on mulberry leaves. Its fibers are fine, long, uniform, and naturally white, providing a stable foundation for high-grade silk yarns with consistent performance, smooth texture, and premium luster.
Tussah silk, also called wild silk, is produced by silkworms feeding on various forest leaves. Its fibers are coarser, shorter, uneven, and naturally yellowish, which limits its use in precision spinning, weaving, and high-end textile applications.
At HGSS Silk, we focus on traceable, farm-to-fiber mulberry silk, ensuring reliable quality, consistent performance, and sustainable production for our global partners.
-
Choosing between silk fiber and silk yarn depends on your production needs, end products, and desired level of processing:
Silk Fiber (Combed / Opened)
Ideal for spinning, blending, or creating custom yarns.
Provides maximum flexibility for manufacturers who want to control yarn thickness, twist, or blend with other fibers.
Often used by textile mills, spinners, and designers to create bespoke fabrics, specialty textiles, or custom yarns.
Silk Yarn (Spun, Long Spun, Short Spun, or Blended)
Ready-to-use for weaving, knitting, finished textile production, or creating custom yarns.
Saves time and labor, offering consistent quality, uniform diameter, and stable performance.
Suitable for fashion apparel, scarves, home textiles, or luxury knitwear, depending on yarn type.
At HGSS Silk, we provide both high-quality silk fibers and premium silk yarns, with technical support to help businesses choose the right material for their products, production process, and target market.
